It feels like Essendon fans want Hird back. But why? He was a champion player, no question. As coach, though, his record wasn’t exceptional, and the club’s darkest period happened on his watch. What evidence is there that he can make the entire club great again?

It feels like a foregone conclusion that many want Hird back at Essendon. But last time he had Bomber Thompson beside him—a proven coach. Who plays that role now? More importantly, who drives the cultural and performance reset across the club? I don’t see Welsh being that person.

It’s been cloudy for a week. I have solar & a battery & it’s not been enough to cover our demand. At same time according to Amber renewables are only making up just over 10% of available electricity. How are going to make up that 90% if we lose all our coal and gas. Lights off?

My opinion on moving forward. Brad Scott should be a new head of development and culture at Essendon but not the head coach. He should help find the right head coach and then he can ensure the rest of the right pieces and culture continues to grow. But he shouldn't coach

@golfon5 Now stretch out Scott over 14 years as a senior career if you want longevity context. It's average at best. 6th in a home and away series isn't success. Has an average losing finals margin of over 10 goals. Made finals 4 out of 10 years at Norf. That's will be 4/14 by end of yr.

James Hird (2011): 11–11, finals Brad Scott (2023): 11–12, just missed Same wins. Hird had Watson, Fletcher, Hille, Lucas, Ryder, Hurley + a mature midfield. Scott has Merrett + a developing, injury-hit list. Context matters. 🔴⚫ #Essendon #AFL
