It's completely fine they have your own interests and desires but doesn't mean they are the same for everyone else. Like duh you're going to find shirtless men with necks bigger and thicker than their own heads more appealing and don't understand the appeal of why any dude would like the women with big boobs in bikini's and tiny waists. That doesn't make the sweaty shirtless men's designs more real and beautiful and the women's all gross and obviously just inspired by misogyny. Just fundamentally different tastes in unrealistic and fictional characters. When gay men give makeup advice to women, they often come out looking more like drag queens because that's the way they personally engage with makeup and experience it, through other gay men but it doesn't make it a good fit for everyone else. I say this as queer myself, you cannot take queer peoples advice on what is or isn't appealing in regards to the wider general audiences. All you're getting is extremely self mirroring niche interests that often don't reflect the general audiences tastes. Same way you can't expect a cis man to know what is appealing to gay men, you shouldn't expect a gay man's interests to reflect that of cis straight men. Even just on a basic level, one will design a male character based on what makes them sexually desirable to themselves and the other will design a male character based on what looks cool and powerful to them but whilst one is framed as ok and not objectification like you're not designing a boyfriend over a character, the other is framed as purely disrespectful and misogyny.
