"NCT Mark announced his departure from the team along with the end of his contract with SM Entertainment. On April 3, he posted a handwritten letter on social media, expressing his gratitude to the team, the agency, and the fans who have been with him for the past ten years.
For K-pop idols, it’s often difficult to express their own voice or influence the musical direction during their rookie years. However, as time passes and they prove their influence, many artists pursue solo activities to explore their desired creative direction.
Mark previously showcased his rap skills on High School Rapper and was nominated in the K-pop Album category at the 2026 Korean Music Awards alongside Jennie, NMIXX, and TWICE Chaeyoung.
Although it’s not yet known what choices Mark will make in the future, considering his past career, it’s possible to cautiously predict that he might establish his own label and embark on new activities, much like Jay Park, CL, or other BLACKPINK members."
