Russia launched one of its longest mass drone attacks against Ukraine, killing six people and injuring dozens, including children, on May 13. The attack has involved repeated waves of drones, with hundreds of them launched since the start of the day. The strikes came as the U.S. President arrived in China for a major visit. Russia is clearly trying to sabotage the political backdrop and draw attention to its aggression. The strikes hit multiple regions across Ukraine, including areas close to NATO borders – Zakarpattia, Lviv, Volyn, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Rivne regions, as well as Vinnytsia, Chernivtsi, Khmelnytskyi, Dnipro, Kirovohrad, Zaporizhzhia, Zhytomyr, Kyiv, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Sumy, Cherkasy, Kharkiv and Kherson regions. Russia aims to overload Ukraine's air defences and inflict maximum civilian suffering. We call on the world to increase real pressure on Russia to stop this terror.

We’re not giving up on diplomatic efforts, and we hope that pressure on Russia, together with negotiations in different formats, will help bring peace. Sanctions are working, our long-range capabilities are working, and every form of pressure is working. We are in constant contact with America. We expect the issue of ending Russia’s war against Ukraine to be raised now as well, while the President of the United States is in China. But please do not forget that the most effective tools are those that can physically stop the Russians. We are steadily advancing the issue of anti-ballistic capabilities production in Europe – we are forming an anti-ballistic coalition. This is something worth doing, and right now we are closer to a result than ever before. Thirteen countries and the Office of the NATO Secretary General were represented at today’s meeting at the level of NSAs on anti-ballistic solutions. Overall, Ukraine’s positions right now – on the frontline, in our long-range sanctions, and in our joint results with partners – are the strongest they have been in years.

A cynical Russian drone strike targeted an ordinary residential building in Kryvyi Rih, with no military purpose whatsoever. As of now, two older people have been reported killed. Their 9-month-old granddaughter is in hospital with serious injuries. Our doctors are doing everything they can to save her life. After the end of the three-day partial ceasefire, Russia continues to kill and maim Ukrainians. So pressure on Russia must not be eased in any way. Only firm joint pressure and the strengthening of Ukraine, including the reinforcement of our air defense, can compel the aggressor to diplomacy for a reliable peace and an end to the killings.
