Esraa: Top Sudanese Student Prays for Army Victory and Defies Darkness and Hardship – A Story of a Nation That Knows No Despair In an inspiring interview on Al Jazeera Mubasher, Esraa Ahmed Haidar, the top scorer in Sudan’s 2024 high secondary school certificate exams, shared her story of resilience and determination. Scoring 97.1%, Esraa achieved academic excellence despite the challenges of war, repeated blackouts, heavy floods, and a suspension of studies that lasted more than a year. Esraa described the experience as “very difficult,” explaining how she and her classmates studied under harsh conditions, often without electricity. She noted during the interview that “currently, there is no electricity,” highlighting the ongoing impact of infrastructure damage caused by the terrorist attacks of the UAE-backed Rapid Support Militia (Janjaweed), including the targeting of the Merowe Dam. Esraa had to relocate from her hometown of Merowe to Dongola, where she received strong support from her teachers and classmates during exam preparations. During the interview, Esraa expressed heartfelt wishes for her country, saying: “I hope the war ends, the Sudanese army wins, and that God accepts the martyrs of the Battle of Dignity.” Her father, who joined the conversation, echoed her sentiments, praying for victory for the Sudanese Armed Forces and thanking Al Jazeera for sharing the joy of Sudanese families during such difficult times. Looking ahead, Esraa stated her ambition to study medicine and become a doctor who can serve Sudan. “I wish to see Sudan among the best countries,” she said. “It is a country full of good and it truly deserves it.” Esraa’s journey is a powerful reminder of the strength and determination of Sudanese youth, and a message of hope that dreams can still thrive even amid conflict. #Sudan #EchoesOfResilience #RSFisTerroristOrganization
