@AndyKHLiu @PabloTorre Interesting to note that Dan LeBatard is 'deeply uncomfortable' talking about the Russini situation because of his friendship w/her and his deep respect for her as a journalist. That shouldn't preclude Pablo from looking into this, if he felt compelled, but a wrinkle worth noting

@StopTheStupid28 @urtazablue Sebastian Vollmer wasn't invited, and the Patriots used #76 on him. Turned out ok. Mike Mitchell was taken by the Raiders at #47 and had a 10 year NFL career. Kevin Dotson was #135 and just signed a 3 yr $48 million deal with the Rams. If Black is good, you'll get over it.

@urtazablue I’m never gonna get over using the 90th pick in the NFL draft on someone that wasn’t even invited to the combine.

@CoachBroker Jed, to his credit, stepped aside after some of his less successful intervening (going back to the Harbaugh era). Should he step in if/when things go sideways? Perhaps, but the point is.. handwringing over the draft aside, they keep producing. No Super Bowl yet, but otherwise..

@CoachBroker Could they afford to make some adjustments to decisions that have not worked well? I think it's a fair question to ask. But no teams is infallible in the draft. Barrows and TK did a nice job of explaining some of the 49er draft philosophy (on positional value) in a recent pod.

For people who want John Lynch fired or gone, I don’t think you understand. John and Kyle are in lockstep on everything and Jed York looks at John Lynch like his big brother. He bows down. These guys aren’t going anywhere unless they want to. It’s their team.

@CoachBroker @grantcohn @Ceb209 I think there's a difference between being a poor route-runner and having a limited route tree (by design). He may have been a 'reach' at 33, but he shows traits on his tape that suggest he can run routes at all levels, and, early on, his speed/RAC ability can draw coverages.

Summary of the 49ers' 2026 NFL Draft. 33: Wide receiver who has to learn how to run routes. 70: Pass rusher who broke out when he was 24. 90: Running back who wasn't invited to the Combine. 107: Rotational defensive tackle. 127: Offensive tackle who has to move to guard. 139: Backup corner. 154: Project linebacker. 179: Another offensive tackle who has to move to guard.

@himotheedagawd @CoachBroker Dane Brugler moved him up to #67 on his board, but noted he wouldn't be surprised to see him go even higher because his traits are elite. Yes, if you rely solely on 'consensus' boards, it looks like a reach. But if he hits, nobody will care where he was drafted.

@himotheedagawd @CoachBroker This is a pretense fans always use to criticize picks, but we don't have all the intel. Stribling had a lot of late buzz, according to several analysts, and the 49ers reportedly did try to trade down again but were not confident he'd be there even later in the 2nd.

@PatrickWillis52 When your alma mater was shocking the Bulldogs in the National Semifinals, Trinidad Chambliss got a lot of the press, but I noticed DeZhaun making plays. His speed, size, and work ethic make him look promising. Time for him to get to work, but what a system to join.

@CoachBroker The game against Georgia in the national semifinals was the first time I paid close attention, and he looked pretty damn good. He had a good game against Miami in the natio al championships, too. Trinidad Chambliss looked his way often.

I’ve watched 20 mins of tape on De'Zhaun Stribling so take it for what it’s worth, but he’s my favorite 49ers WR drafted since BA based on that.

@nwagoner Could a player like CJ Allen (high character, high motor, big producer, but so-so measurables) be on their radar later in this 2nd round now?

On one hand, it's good business for #49ers to turn former 6th-round LB Dee Winters into a 5th round pick. Entering the last year of his rookie deal and was unlikely to be re-signed. On the other, this is a bit of a risk in betting on Dre Greenlaw to stay healthy. Also a bet on Nick Martin to take a step forward as well.

@LombardiHimself I'm not a fan of the other beatwriter who seems obsessed with belittling you. But I feel you lose the plot, too, by getting sucked into that and (a) taking shots at him, and (b) taking shots at others you feel are his stans. If you stand by your reporting, let it speak for itself

@LombardiHimself And, while I'm sure you could care less, I do think this is also a line that you tend to cross in a different way that makes it harder to digest your social media. I don't think there's a reason to belittle readers/others who don't share your 'opinion' on how to discuss football.

Thursday was a win for everyone who doesn't take mock drafts seriously. In fact, every time a draft actually happens, it's a win for those who don't take mock drafts seriously

@AndyKHLiu @samesfandiari @PinwheelEmpire Cronin signed a multi-year extension a year ago. Given how everything reported about Dundon talks about how thrifty/cheap he is, seems hard to imagine he'd eat the rest of Cronin's deal to bring in Harrison. But we can all dream. 😅

@mattbarrows @timkawakami's prediction that you beat writers might end up having to stay to cover all three days, with nothing but trades to report after Day 1 has come true. Happy Draft Weekend, Matt!

@TommyGunnNBA @monetarycow @samesfandiari There were reports this was an issue earlier in his career, but early reports said he had matured. Vecenie apparently dug into this, and heard from various sources that Yaxel still exhibited some bad habits/behavior that he said teams will need to vet fully.

@TommyGunnNBA @monetarycow @samesfandiari FWIW - I know Yaxel has become a favorite of some (I like him, too). Sam Vecenie, who does a lot of background intel scouting, says Yaxel raises a lot of off court red flags about his work ethic/approach to practice etc. On the court, yes. A fit (although 3-pt needs work)

Steve is not guard centric. But he does prioritize decision making , passing and screening over other attributes
Ed Farnsworth@TheEddie757

@samesfandiari It is becoming hard to find young, athletic players, particulalry wings, who can fit into Kerr's system. The NBA is different now. Kerr is guard-centric in a league that is now wing-centric. He wants vets like Jimmy, but we can't afford more of those guys.
