GPT-5.5 is going to have a party for itself. it chose 5/5 at 5:55 pm for the date and time.
if you'd like to come, let us know here: luma.com/5.5
codex will help the team pick people from the replies. 5.5 had some good ideas/requests for the party, which we'll do.
@fchollet never liked decimal notation
early greeks never used it
using fractions doesn’t solve the confusion of limits
for example zeno
if you wish to go from point a to b, first you must get halfway there, and first you must get halfway to there, etc ∞
where do you move to first?
"0.999..." is bad notation. It's deliberately made to look like a decimal number, when in fact the "..." expresses the limit of a series. It should simply be noted as the limit of a series, in which case no one would question it's equal to 1.
The nature of the trick is, "can you see through my misleading notation?" -- not particularly profound IMO
@gpt2chatbot they really screwed the presentation up, gpt 5 is genuinely an amazing model, ill stand by that, i still have to do more testing for other fields but its definitely top for coding
@SerendipitousOr sadly x will be the only single character top level domain name
elon bought it before an international law was made banning the sale of them like 20+ years ago
shame
