Whether you choose Rust or C, you will still be unemployed anyways. And if you are already employed, just focus on whatever language that pays your rent (even if it isn't C or Rust at the end of the day).

@hm_boa_pergunta No, Zig is C with caution. Not 100% memory safe but more safer than C. now what is the sole purpose of odin?

@unclegubsey i don't think odin can take the game dev scene from C++ as it's not object oriented, even C couldn't take the graphics programming crowd from C++. all graphics api like vk, dx and gl are in C, but everyone use c++ for it and not C.

@gpu_governor Odin is just a different paradigm than zig while still being a good c replacement. I think Odin will do better with the c++ crowd that hate all the bloat, and zig will do better as something in-between c and rust

@waozixyz I wanted windows because of vs and .net, but i think i will need to dual boot based on my experience so far

apt was my package manager. i just switched to windows, i forgot how painful it is to install C/C++ libraries on windows. I didn't know i needed to have a PHD in Cmake just to compile a simple opencv program.

Microsoft once tried rewriting Windows NT kernel components in C++ but reverted to C because of performance issues and unpredictable object lifetimes. Even big companies learn from C++’s complexities!

@mu_chrinovic @TheLobbyistGuy Oop is the best paradigm for game dev, my SDL C++ code base is more re-useable than when i use SDL C and structs

You are missing Object oriented Programming. Neither Rust or C is Object Oriented

I’m proficient in C and Rust. What am I missing out on by not knowing anything about C++?
