If I were Adebayo Adelabu, I’d drop the spin and be blunt about the power sector.✍️ It’s naive to think he can fix anything without a full structural overhaul of an underfunded, barely liberalized system. Tell the Nigeria the truth, they can moan but years later truth stands.

Is it proper to hold a press conference in the courtroom in the absence of the judge? That was what Sowore did, and when a learned Silk requested him to go and have the press conference outside, Sowore began to antagonize the man.

@Letter_to_Jack The responsibilities of the individual components of the power sector have never been put into the public domain All we see every time is "more monies should go to the PPP" Has any PPP been sanctioned according to any SLA ? We need openness first, not donations to PPP

I’m gonna get smoked for this but I’ll put it straight. It’s the electricity subsidies due to how they are structured. Investors know that the Nigerian government are notorious with owing subsidy balance payments. And no serious investor will commit billions into a sector where a significant portion of their revenue depends on reimbursements that may be delayed, disputed, or never fully paid. That uncertainty is the root of the problem. Just as it was with the unstable naira. You can’t build a stable power sector when rates are subsidized and costs are rising, with the difference supposed to be covered later by government that would owe and perhaps dispute their figures. There is no incentive to invest aggressively in the sector because distributors aren’t certain of recovering their costs. The government has to find better ways to subsidize power to citizens in a way that wouldn’t distort the market or starve the sector of the revenue of investors as at when due. Blanket subsidies will not work, the forex and petrol sectors have proved to us beyond reasonable doubt that blanket subsidies is a fertile ground for corruption on the grandest scale.

Has anyone ever actually studied the reason why we can’t have 24hrs power in Nigeria? Is there a curse in the power sector or what? All those that like reading and writing books do you have any explanation? I mean, no be juju be dis?

Declare an emergency on power generation in Nigeria. Without stable power you cannot achieve wide scale progress in various sectors. That Ministerial position should be outsourced to a management consultant or outfit that is deliverables driven. Office holders cannot be involved in politics of any sort!

POWER SECTOR & THE FUNDAMENTALS POWER GENERATION..... Let's act as though we are all concerned and are not involved in all the technicalities, we just want to know what the issues are and what the practical solutions can be.... Nigeria needs to generate at least 40,000MW of electricity, but at the moment, we're generating less than 6,000MW although we have installed capacity of around 15,000MW. Look at this as someone using "I better pass my neighbor" in your compound instead of Mikano to GENERATE electricity for all of you in that compound. So, what are the core issues at the Power Generation? If we can understand that and likely solution, then we may do same for Power Transmission, and Power Distribution Sector. There has always been this conversation around Liquidity Crisis & Debt in power generation sector...THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT MONEY...Money na LIQUID🤣🤣🤣 A whole N6 trillion as of late 2025 gbese in that sector was what we have been hearing but Government said the verified amount after proper Audit as we speak is N2.8 trillion.... . To GENERATE, Operators needs to maintain their plants. GenCos are still being subsidized by the Government so reduce cost of Power Generation. But the fund from Govt is not even available having piled up for years. We have many issues in Power Generation that is over 80% dependent on Gas to fire the plants, there's that other aspect of gas pipeline vandalism, even the available infrastructures need upgrade also. The price of gas is another dispute and remember private individuals in that sector aren't there as father Christmas... FG released N501 billion in January 2026 via bonds, under the Presidential Power Sector Debt Reduction Programme at least to show commitment to the players in that sector. There's still additional plan to pay N800 billion before June this year... But don't forget that the debt keeps increasing EVERY MONTH even as we speak.... Electricity Act 2023 of the present administration of Tinubu has decentralized Power Generation and States can take care of that also now, that's a good step in the right direction. Some States like Lagos already have their regulatory commissions in place. But beyond that, I personally think regions though Regional Commissions should be able to generate and distribute their own power independently of the National grid also. We have 6 Regional Commissions now, that should be part of their priorities... Whichever way, Govt needs to clear the legacy debts owed to GenCos and gas suppliers ASAP, obviously there's plan to do that already. But beyond that, Government and NIGERIANS need to agree if Government should continue to fund GEnCOs in form of subsidy as it is today or allow the sector to fully fund itself which will surely change cost of Power Generation template that Nigerians will be looking at... Is that not cost-reflective tariffs?😇😇 Will players/Investors come to that sector with the present arrangement? The answer is obvious for all to see NOW. This Fundamental in Power Generation wahala, if not clearly and properly addressed once and for all just like Fuel subsidy, we will keep dancing around this mirage, then we shall return to the same spot in the near future when we are ready eventually.... Gas suppliers will not hear storyline, they will only respond to FUNDING.... What are other issues around Power Generation that needs to be resolved? Maybe more of Hydro Power Generation, more of Solar Power, more of security and collaboration to stop gas pipeline vandalism....

Incase you don’t know, this Learners’ Identification Number (LIN) idea that the FG is about to introduce was pioneered in Nigeria by Ogun State under Governor @DapoAbiodunCON. It is one of those pioneering education reforms in Ogun State that has proven so effective that the Federal Government had to adopt a similar concept. Other states have also been here to study the system. In Ogun State, you cannot register for major exams like West African Examinations Council (WAEC), Junior WAEC, and others without a LIN. With the LIN, any teacher or authorized official can access a student’s academic history; class attendance records, school movements, continuous assessment results, and every other critical detail in real time. Due to these reforms, it is now nearly impossible to manipulate the public primary and secondary education system in Ogun State. We lead, others follow. Congratulations Nigeria.

BREAKING NEWS: The Federal Government is set to introduce Learner Identification Number, LIN, for school children right from primary school level to be able to track their academic progress, as they continue their education journey.
