If we believe as a country that all people should be treated equitably and fairly, then it stands to reason that individuals who menstruate are a part of the ALL. In the realm of the basics of American government and politics, the tampon tax is an unconstitutional and unjust act.

To address the concern of adverse impact on states' sales tax receipts and state budgets from a repeal of the tax, a potential solution is that sales tax should be applied to all consumer purchases regardless if the product is categorized as a necessity or luxury.

Our government offers services such as government assisted living, healthcare, and food stamps which serve as a helping hand to citizens. Beyond repealing the tampon tax, we should create a nation-wide program to fund and aid access to feminine hygiene products for those in need

A 32 pack of Tampax Pearl Ultra Tampons costs $7.49 at my local Target. A box of Kotex pads comes in at $11.49. That’s $191.76 annually on essential biologically needed items. I will spend upwards of $6,136 on menstrual hygiene products by the time I am 50...I am currently 18.
