@jhgates1 @graciesart Alberta’s leverage comes from being part of Canada, a G7 economy with established trade deals. Elections alone don’t create stability. Currency, pensions, and investment systems do and independence puts those at risk.

@jhgates1 @graciesart Independence may sound good in theory, but in reality it trades Alberta’s economy, leverage, and stability for massive unknowns. With multiple separatist parties and advocacy groups competing for control, political chaos would only add to the economic risk.

Dear Toronto Blue Jays fans at Rogers Centre: Thank you for (mostly) playing it classy tonight, and resisting the temptation to boo the American anthem. While I'm as livid at America as you are, I'm glad you didn't. Because I noticed some American players on our team were singing the Canadian anthem, with reverence, and solemn respect. Your decision to take the high road made it easier for them to do that. You created a beautiful, powerful moment of mutual respect. You reminded me our problem is with Donald Trump, and not most Americans. Bravo. #BlueJays

I became a Canadian citizen! I was born in an authoritarian regime. This is the first time I can vote in democratic elections. What an honor! ❤️ I believe democracy is the zenith of our achievements as humans. Not electricity, not the automobile, not the Internet. A planet of smart apes could have invented those. But we created democracy and peaceful existence that precludes war and violence. I have only one goal as a new citizen: to uphold democratic values (and pay taxes 😏).

@jhgates1 OMG. I understand nothing is free . However, CANADA has done a great job in balancing our needs with our budget. Stop whining and come to the Progressives.

@graciesart Trumps not destroying Canada. After > decade of Progressives making us the best economy in the G7, most affordable Country in the G7, what is it that the USA has done that destroyed it? I think you folks are having an issue squaring your circle of what free stuff actually costs.

What the Independence polls DON'T tell you. They say we're 30% but MAINSTREAM CURRENT POLLS go as high as 33% WE PEAKED at 42% during the federal election, and CURRENTLY 42% of under 34s support independence. so we'll stick with 33% Polls go off ADULT population (4million) NOT legal/registered voters (2.97million) Fact check it, it's true. 33% is 1.3-1.4 million LEGAL VOTERS old stock Albertans WHO CAN VOTE. or.. 45% of the TOTAL POSSIBLE VOTE. Meaning if EVERY SINGLE LEGAL voter showed up and voted, they'd be 45% of the vote. Meaning a 90% minimum TURNOUT is required to defeat it if they all vote, which they're pretty motivated to do. Albertas highest ever turnout was: 2019: 67.5% (highest in decades to defeat Snotley) 2023: 59.5% (down from 2019) 2015: ~57% 2012: 54.4% 2008: 40.6% (lowest in modern times) Quebec reached 93%, they had bombings terrorist groups, Canada saying they love them national attention coast to coast begging them to stay for YEARS. Bribes up the wazoo (Mostly Albertas tax dollars) IN A MUCH MORE COHESIVE, NON DIVIDED SOCIALLY TIME WITHOUT INTERNET DISTRACTIONS. They're trying to brush Albertas under the rug and Insult us and tell us we're not allowed and call us traitors. It's not the same appeal, there is no FLQ doing attacks, there is no national campagin. You think Alberta can get a 93% turnout which is FACTUALLY NEEDED. And even if Alberta does, you're assuming EVERY NEW VOTER, votes to stay in Canada. (A pipe dream) Independence is MORE than possible! It's inevitable, BUT WE HAVE TO BE THE ONES WHO TURN OUT TO VOTE.
