Out today! Final chapter of my @PennNGG dissertation is now online at @PNASNews: pnas.org/content/early/…. Coupling between inter-regional structural and functional brain connectivity remodels during brain development to support cortical specialization and executive function.

We at @ANDL_Harvard anticipate an open postdoctoral position starting in Summer 2022, contributing to a new NIH-funded project focused on identifying the interrelationships between pubertal development, brain development, and psychological functioning/well-being.

Happy to announce this work is now available online at @ScienceAdvances! Using pharma-fMRI and developmental fMRI, we show evidence for a hallmark feature of critical period development in adolescent association cortex. Check it out! doi.org/10.1126/sciadv…

I am very excited to share our new preprint in which we test a central prediction from a critical period model of adolescent development: a developmental reduction of the excitation:inhibition (E:I) ratio in association cortex! doi.org/10.1101/2021.0… 1/

Our findings add to the growing evidence for protracted cortical myelination into the third decade of life. Massive thanks to co-authors and the whole HCP-D consortium for collaborating on this project!

Functional latent clustering identified three data-driven groups of cortical areas showing similar rate and timing of T1w/T2w myelination. This spatial pattern of microstructural brain development closely parallels the S-A axis of cortical organization and information processing.

What is the next stumbling block for neuroscience in achieving reproducible brain-behavior relationships? A sobering look at how differences in processing pipelines and seemingly innocuous decisions can drive findings apart, as well as potential solutions biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

Swipes for science!! Help us QC data for the Healthy Brain Network Preprocessed Open Diffusion Derivatives project. Go to fibr.dev/#/ , read through the tutorial, and start swiping! You will be added as a co-author on the paper if you rate over 3,000 images!

As children grow, the variability of many phenotypes shift substantially. Might something similar be happening in the human brain, and what would that tell us about development and evolution? We explored these questions in a new paper out today @PNASNews pnas.org/content/118/14…
