Here are the main reasons why tech grads don’t find jobs and how to fix them. Hint: it has nothing to do with H1B visas or a lack of jobs. You’re welcome. - Cheating: The majority of students admit to plagiarism or cheating on tests. Having a degree doesn’t mean you’re qualified. If that’s your case, start admitting it, own it, go back to study. - Lack of resilience / entitlement: Jobs won’t come to you. Sending 10 applications isn’t enough. If you don’t have a network, you need to send hundreds. Treat job hunting like a full-time job. Apply to at least 10 jobs a day and personalize each application. You have to fight for it. - Early focus on work-life balance / lack of motivation: If you’re a grad with no experience, you need to show hunger and drive. Too many just “don’t care.” Focus on growth, not comfort. Don’t be lazy. - Unrealistic salary expectations: Many grads refuse to start at $60k in a cool startup where they’ll learn a lot. Be realistic. Stop believing stupid TikTok videos telling you you deserve $200k out of univ. - Lack of structure in the job search: In univ or bootcamps, everything is structured. After graduation, there’s no timeline or plan. Create a schedule, set daily goals, and find accountability buddies. - Lack of a network: You ignored advice to build your network while studying, and now you have no professional connections. Start building your network today. Stop finding excuses. Put in the work. The job is here. Go get it.
