Tourette’s campaigner John Davidson says he experienced multiple outbursts at the BAFTAs beyond shouting the N-word, attributing his tics to a condition called echolalia: “I am often triggered by what I see and/or what I hear.” “On Sunday, Alan Cumming joked about his own sexuality and, when referencing Paddington Bear, said, ‘Maybe you would like to come home with me, Paddington. It wouldn’t be the first time I have taken a hairy Peruvian bear home with me,’” Davidson explained to Variety. “This resulted in homophobic tics from me and led to a shout of ‘pedophile’ that was likely triggered because Paddington Bear is a children’s character.” wp.me/pc8uak-1lGWQa

As someone: with Tourette’s, Who’s mixed race, Who got cancelled by millions of people for an n word tic to the point of mass death threats, Who has presented multiple awards (including a BAFTA game award), I have so much to say about this but I can’t record today. I have been where John is, and people debated for years whether I deserved the right to livestream because I have TS, it’s sucks that this is still happening to people when google is free. People are wilfully misunderstanding Tourette’s at this point. Everyone deserves empathy here. I hope him, Michael and Delroy are doing ok.

Tourette’s campaigner John Davidson shouted the N-word while Michael B. Jordan and Delroy Lindo were on stage at the BAFTA Film Awards Host Alan Cumming thanked the audience for their understanding after several outbursts throughout the event variety.com/2026/film/awar…

#BAFTAFilmAwards host Alan Cumming thanked the audience for their “understanding” after a series of audible outbursts from Tourette’s campaigner John Davidson interrupted the ceremony. • One incident saw Davidson shout the n-word while Michael B. Jordan and Delroy Lindo were on stage. • Davidson, the inspiration for BAFTA-nominated “I Swear,” was diagnosed with Tourette’s at 25. His symptoms include tics and involuntary outbursts. • “You may have noticed some strong language in the background there, this can be part of how Tourette’s syndrome shows up for some people as the film explores that experience,” Cumming told the audience. wp.me/pc8uak-1lGWhl

The red card.
