Jason Cammisa on part of the reason why @Tesla is discontinuing the Model S/X (in his interpretation): "The cost to reengineer the Model S to continue to comply with all safety and crash regulations would be greater than to start over, and I think that's a dying segment, the luxury car segment. You can look at the volumes of the Model 3/Y, and you see you're better off spending the money on developing those." (via The Carmudgeon Show). Full podcast linked below:

If you use any version of FSD (Supervised) V14, what is the most common reason you disengage (even if it’s rare)?

Is per-kWh price a factor when you choose which DCFC to stop at on a road trip? We’re finally at the point where major routes have major options (I remember when that wasn’t the case!), and those options come with a real range of amenities, power levels, and pricing. Personally, I’ll go out of my way to avoid just about any DCFC priced above $0.50/kWh - I typically pay under $0.40/kWh, assuming ~200kW+ / 500A+ to pull full power on my F-150 Lightning. That usually puts me on IONNA, Mercedes-Benz High-Power Charging, and Tesla Superchargers with membership ($12.99/month is paid for in the savings of a single charge on my Lightning, though it's very annoying I can't use PnC and get the discounted rate). For AC / Level 2, I won’t bother plugging in unless it’s below $0.20/kWh (and only if I actually need it, like at a hotel) or free - opportunity charging or better parking. Public charging is still priced too high across the board, and hotel AC charging is the worst offender. Hotels need to view EV charging as an amenity - more like the pool or gym - rather than a profit center like the overpriced minibar snacks. Having charging attracts guests that would otherwise pick a different hotel that has (reasonably priced) charging. What are your thresholds?

Thank you Marcus for your kind thoughts.

NEW: Six Flags Texas Regional General Manager Jeffrey Siebert announces that he is leaving his role with the company to spend more time with his family. Here is his full statement: “As you may have heard, I have taken a pause in my career to spend more time with family, especially our moms who are with us in San Antonio. While this time is a gift, no doubt I will miss my Six Flags family and seeing all of you. The company has been so supportive and will continue to blaze a trail to new horizons. I look forward to being a guest myself and enjoying all the thrilling adventures yet to come. Keep in touch, and see you at a park soon.” Fun story - I first met @jeffrey_siebert when he was the park president of Six Flags Fiesta Texas - but I didn’t meet him in San Antonio. He tapped my shoulder when I was waiting in line for Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit at Universal Studios in Orlando! He was also there with his family and spotted me. My kids asked me why a Six Flags guy would be hanging out at another company’s theme park - and I told them it’s because he truly LOVES theme parks, and that passion is why he’s always been so successful at every place he’s worked at. Best wishes to him and his family. Can’t wait to see where he eventually ends up in this industry down the line. 🎢🙌

Taking the chicken straight from the pack into the frying pan is nasty. I don't trust anyone who doesn't wash their chicken. I don't care how good the finished product looks.🤢

@mahkus The R2 is literally just a model y made by Rivian. $57k for a 330 mile car in 2026 is wild though.

R2 is very compelling. It checks a lot of boxes for us. My thoughts as a Model Y owner: -Limited to the black interior. No thank you. Advantage Tesla -Much better use of space than the Y. Rear window lowering helps too. But still 5 seater, so not a huge upgrade there. Advantage Rivian -We own FSD on the Y. Autonomy+ is early on and will likely get better, but quite a disparity there currently. Also no LIDAR as of yet. Advantage Tesla -Still 400V limited, so charging will be equalish to the Y. Hopefully has a beefier charging curve than the Y. Equal but leaning towards the Rivian -4400 lbs towing vs 3500 lbs on the Y. With plans to get a travel trailer, we'd still be taking the Cybertruck to tow. Equal -10-20% more range on the R2. Advantage Rivian -Pricing - I really like where the R2 comes in. I think it fits. But still looking at quite a bit more for R2 vs Model Y and cheaper models are years away. Advantage Tesla. I like the R2 a lot but I don't think it'd be worth it to upgrade from our current Model Y. What are your thoughts?

@SawyerMerritt Additionally, efficiency is good and great for charging cost but if it’s at the expense of a high price tag then it’s not worth it.

@SawyerMerritt I wish they told us how many kW it charges at, charge curve and if it’s 300 real miles or hypothetical miles like all epa. If it’s a true 300 mile car then it’s a good deal. My wife’s car is a Chevy equinox EV and easily gets 300 miles and it was right around half the price.
