Most of the time our volunteers are working in pairs on the boats so we don’t often get a group picture together. Today we had our Xmas lunch @canalhousebar and we were joined by Debs Porter our former Ops Mgr. 🎄🍺 @CRTEastMidlands @GranthamCanal @Derby_Canal

The towpath diversion is now in place at Lock 13. Shouldn't cause too many issues, as it simply diverts you onto the adjacent disused railway track, Sustrans Route 15.

After being floored by COVID, I actually managed a proper walk. This has to be the prettiest part of the Grantham canal and look at those colours!

Icy cold yesterday near Lock 10, but didn't deter volunteers Janet, Charmian, John, Pete A, Pete W, Bruce, Steve, Jon & Bob! Continuing this project clearing brambles & hawthorn, from the canal bed on the Cropwell Flight. More help is always welcome: volunteer@granthamcanal.org

@GranthamCanal We need more work on the @GranthamCanal to open it up to the River Trent. If you look at all the towns with quality canal infrastructure like Devises and Llangollen the tourist impact on the local income is enormous. As ever @MyNottingham @Rushcliffe @NottsCC shy away . We need

A chance to experience a drained lock this Sunday. This lock is on the Beeston Canal diagonally opposite our Lock 1, and is the reason the Grantham Canal went to Nottingham - rather than to Lincoln or Newark. The Beeston & Nottingham Canals giving access to the coalfields.

Cormorants can often be seen on Denton Reservoir.
