C people don’t know what they need, they have to research the question, and to do that you need close iterations. That’s why a business savvy person that knows SQL has a huge edge. @graphext

You know, in America 🇺🇸, the Social Security Administration keeps a public database with every baby name given to at least five newborns 👶 in each state, going all the way back to 1910. That adds up to about 6.5 million combinations—so massive that they just dump the data in a ZIP file full of unwieldy TXT files. Well, I went ahead and pulled it all together, uploaded it to @graphext , and made it available in our public gallery. Anyone with a free account can explore it. And chances are, no matter how unique your name is—even mine, which is pretty rare in Spain—you can track its popularity over time and filter by state. Check out the video—look how fast it runs. There’s no way to replicate this in Excel, Power BI, Tableau, Metabase, or anything similar. It’s a handy tool if you’re brainstorming baby names, for example! 😄

I believe this 16-minute podcast on churn analysis is the most impressive thing I’ve done with artificial intelligence so far. I just fed it this really long post ( graphext.com/post/implement… ) that I doubt many people would read in full, and it turned it into an incredibly entertaining and well-narrated podcast. Honestly, I doubt I could find a couple of journalists who could produce something at this level.

I love this new feature from @graphext for filtering high-cardinality categorical variables, like thousands of product categories in millions of purchases. It instantly shows you which categories match your search, and you can easily pin them in the distribution to select and see common traits, like how people buying sex toys usually have higher than average spending. Plus, the new query string formulas give you even more flexibility, such as filtering for any category that includes electronics.

The @graphext logo is inspired by an icon I saw on the allergen menu of El Bulli, which was once the best restaurant in the world, created by @ferranadria. Ferran is probably the most dedicated person in history to treating cooking as a complex data problem, where recipes are interconnected ingredients combined under specific conditions. This explains his obsession with creating taxonomies. With the help of our PM, Álvaro, we are working on how to assist him in coming full circle :)

At @graphext , we’ve spent years working to create the most powerful and intuitive tool for both complex and simple data visualizations and predictive models. Now, we also want to be the best in data cleaning and data wrangling. To achieve this, we’ve made numerous improvements to our low-code editing in the recipe editor. Check out this video where @jesi_rgb explains it all :) and more info here 👉 graphext.com/changelog/shor…

If you see someone driving a Tesla, there's a 50% chance that person lives in a household earning over $200K a year, at least three times more than the median US household income of about $74K. I've downloaded the 2022 National Household Travel Survey microdata and uploaded it to @graphext to create this chart showing the typical income of households that own each car brand. They are ranked from most to least popular car brands.

Moreover, we can see a dramatic "dent" in 2020, when COVID hit and most of the productions needed to stop. But 2022 makes the most epic comeback with a historic maximum of around ~20K films made that year.
