For example one of my colleagues cut the toe off a (clean) sock and warmed to use as a hat for a preemie - any similar gems or tips for making non-specialised equipment work?

@WildernessEMC I believe there is a feasibility trial running in some remote-er areas of NZ where EMT are carrying IM fentanyl (and naloxone). I guess would need to consider requirements for managing/storing controlled drugs as part of equation?

Ok, so I've just checked NZ St John CPG: EMT's do not have authority to use Fentanyl & Narcan, Paramedics & ICP's do. So laypersons with a PHEC level qualifications - maybe (probably ?) not within their scope even under a standing order from a medical director?

Kiwi paramedicine / medicine / first aid friends: Please may I have you opinion? health.govt.nz/our-work/regul… Administration of adrenaline in anaphylaxis is usually considered OK by First Aiders. However, how about IM injection of Fentanyl? OK under a standing order? Grey area?

@Charl_Underwood Nurse, but still done my fair share! Whip through the ones you know first and mark the ones to come back to, rather than getting stuck on one you don't know and running out of time. Read and re read the question, what is being asked? If you don't know an answer, put something!

Achieved two degrees this year but just as proud of this certificate that I was awarded at VoicesCo end of year show last night. Challenged myself this year by doing something new and outside of my comfort zone and it paid off, finding a new community and hobby I love 😁
