I was in the grocery store today and the man in front of me… his card kept declining. He had two kids with him and they were slowly putting their items back one by one. He kept whispering, “Daddy’s trying. I’m sorry.” Then the lady behind me tapped him and said, “Put everything back in the cart. All of it. Kids shouldn’t feel their parent’s stress.” She paid the whole bill and walked off like it was nothing—no bragging, no camera, no attention. Just pure humanity. People like that still exist and they deserve every blessing coming their way.

Why am I advocating for lung cancer when antisemitism is a more immediate and significant threat to my family’s safety, our lives, and the very existence of my people? It’s always been personal, but the murder of Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Milgrim hits close to home. Two of my kids were friends with Sarah from KU. She was my daughter’s sorority sister, & her brother, Jacob, is one of my son’s closest friends from college. Their grief & fear are real. “If it happened to Sarah, it could happen to us.” They’re right. I opened social media this morning to see the conversation around #ASCO25 abstracts released. Instead, I saw people justifying the murder. This isn’t resistance. This hate has been fueled by the promotion of blood libels and incitement disguised as activism. There has always been antisemitism, but now it's normalized. Socially acceptable. Politically excused & academically defended. Words Matter! Slogans like “Free Palestine” and “Globalize the Intifada” aren’t calls for peace - they are calls for violence against Jews. When they are repeated without context and accountability, they become weapons; last night, they were bullets. We’ve seen this before in history, and we know what happens when people turn their heads and stay silent. This isn’t ‘complicated’. A society that justifies terror has lost its moral compass. If you can’t see it, ask yourself why. May Yaron and Sarah’s memory be forever a blessing
