Ogadenia is the oil producing region of Ethiopia, it is also one of it's poorest because of resource theft.
In Kenya the North East is subjected to policing policies that target the economies of local communities forcing them to migrate to urban cores or essentially live under manufactured poverty.

rejection of the colonial borders basically that were set up to divide resource rich regions.
the Somali ppl in all those regions are still somali, and in NFD & Ogadenia get treated as second class citizens within the national borders they live in. this division was meant to function like Rwanda it just never did result in such a tragedy but resulted in long term border rifts & institutional subordination.
