The last fifteen plus years in British politics, along with a hypnoboob smear story, have revealed the importance of politically progressive people actively supporting, and increasing the salience of, what they believe actually matters politically. So with this in mind, focus on: 1) Taxing Income From Wealth Significantly More 2) Action on the Housing Crisis 3) Action on Wages & the Cost of Living, eg, Energy Prices, Water Prices, Rents, House Prices & Food Prices 4) Proportional Representation 5) Decarbonisation, Clean Air & A Green New Deal 6) Increasing the Uptake of the Four Day Work Week (with no loss of pay), alongside more radical demands 7) Holding the Government to Account For Their Endless Terrible Decisions progressiveprimers.medium.com

Polanski and the Progressive Movement should take FULL CREDIT for this report, exploring equalising capital gains tax with income tax in certain areas, reforming council tax and/or taxing landowners, even being drawn up. news.sky.com/story/cabinet-…

Keir Starmer is soooo atrociously bad at politics, even on his own terms. He's spent days pointing out Reform and Conservatives would have taken us into Trump's illegal war in Iran, and emphasising their subsequent U turn. Then he undermines it all... huffingtonpost.co.uk/entry/mother-o…

Are Labour "going off" Angela Rayner? @PronouncedAlva on the ex-Deputy PM's popularity, or lack of, within the party.

UK bases being used for US strikes on these Iranian missile sites is another worrying escalation. The US and Israel started this war and have killed countless civilians. The UK is actively supporting. MPs must be given a vote on our involvement.
Steven Swinford@Steven_Swinford

Breaking: Britain has given the US the green light to use RAF Fairford and Diego Garcia to carry out raids on Iranian missile sites that are attacking ships in the Strait of Hormuz It's the same legal basis as before - collective self-defence - but the targets are new. They are being described once again as 'US defensive operations' rather than offensive strikes “Ministers condemned Iran’s expansion of its targets to include international shipping. They agreed that Iran’s reckless strikes, including on Red Ensign vessels and those of our close allies and Gulf partners, risked pushing the region further into crisis and worsening the economic impact being felt in the UK and around the world. “They confirmed that the agreement for the US to use UK bases in the collective self-defence of the region includes US defensive operations to degrade the missile sites and capabilities being used to attack ships in the Strait of Hormuz. “They reaffirmed that the principles behind the UK’s approach to the conflict remain the same: the UK remains committed to defending our people, our interests and our allies, acting in accordance with international law and not getting drawn into the wider conflict. “Ministers underlined the need for urgent de-escalation and a swift resolution to the war.”

You may have seen @ZackPolanski speaking about economics this week. But the theory behind his thinking is a pretty wild one - and could end up costing you dearly 👇

NEW: A Green party spox has called on Starmer to "come clean" about the UK's involvement in the Iran war, noting that many of the attacks on Iran appear to have been launched from British military bases. "Has he given Donald Trump free rein to wage war from British soil?"

One in six private renters is now renting a former council home, often at extortionate rates – and often partly paid for by the government in the form of housing benefit. It's not just deeply unfair - it economically doesn't make any sense. standard.co.uk/news/politics/…

Rayner, who was happily part of a govt that targeted the disabled, demonised refugees, supported a genocide & suspended MPs for voting to lift kids out of poverty, is suddenly discovering some left wing beliefs. There must be a leadership election brewing!

Ties in with what I shared earlier, for all the debate about defections from Labour to the Greens being on cultural issues by far the biggest single specific policy area that Labour to Green voters give as a reason for their switch is Labour’s handling of cost living.
