When you make bad choices because your mind's not right, even the courts agree you're not exactly responsible for that. And no. You have preconceived notions and are being a generalist regarding my political alignment. I believe in a government big enough to serve its population, no more, no less. Everyone has a right to be heard and counted. Life is hard. For some inexorably so. But that's why they need support, not prisons or psych wards kept as medicated cattle.

@greg39262 I do understand and list people the same way. Would I want them back? Of course. Do I think anyone should have had the authority over them in order to force them into medication, therapy or incarceration? Absolutely not. We all make choices and life is hard

I haven't bought one in years. Why do you say that? I have plenty. I don't use them anymore, I'm stuck in the city now. You know laws widely vary. My state rates gun friendly overall.

Let what happen? We need to quote. I'm doing ten things at once. We can finally agree on your last point without discussion. Guns and abortions have always been go to's. Didn't get us anywhere politically. Maybe civilly? Quiet sustained protest? Remember when everybody smoked, the tobacco companies said it was fine, and the it just became pretty much socially unacceptable. The rate dropped and has been mostly dropping since. Do you see?

@PWwoodcarver I agree in the abstract. I've had three suicides in my family and a few more I suspect are drowning. It's a sad fact that because the numbers are low enough, nobody cares. I'd like to have any one back. Get it?

@greg39262 Not to discredit death but using common sense and logic we myst look at the numbers scientifically and not emotionally. The number of people that die annually from non-self inflicted GSWs is 0.0059% of the American population or less. That is statistically zero. Just saying.

None. Maybe there would be more if not for the insurance companies? They don't have to be. We have had too many cases where people with known mental health issues got guns and used them to commit crimes and suicide. Indisputable.
Tying it to a metric means it never gets done. That's a fact and you certainly seem intelligent, so we can at least maybe agree on a small point I'm enjoying our civil discussion. Thank you. Rare. Alcohol is a huge one, maybe our worst. Alcohol and guns = trouble. Every. Single. Time. True accidents like hammers are insignificant to this thread and seems like a reach. No offense.
