It’s Acer time in the garden again.

A nice aberration of a Small Copper,form radiata, notice the very narrow orange markings on the hind wings and less spotting on the fore wings.Taken at Brockholes Nature Reserve Preston today.

Up to 2000 the Queen of Spain Fritillary (Issoria lathonia) was a coastal species (plus some wanderers inland), now it is moving north inland and has already colonised more than half of NL.
