If you listen to last night's Cisco conference call you will understand the allure the data center has for money managers. The superlatives so outweigh any negatives right now that it is hard to justify NOT owning data center stocks. Very different from 2000 and this company...

If the AI productivity wave delivers what people think it will you could actually outpace the spending problem in the US. We did it after World War II. Debt to GDP hit 122% at the end of the war. We never paid it back in the traditional sense. We just grew the economy faster than the debt grew. Fifteen years later the numbers looked completely different. The market is telling you it thinks something similar happens here. I want to be careful about how I say this, because I’ve been humbled by life and I’ve been humbled by markets. I’ve gotten things wrong. I’m not making this call with any overconfidence. I’m a 38-year market participant telling you what the market is currently pricing in. If the war gets out of control, we could be 30% lower in three months and that would be completely justified. But I’m positioned for a different outcome. Some kind of solution. Something that lets the global economy breathe again. That’s the bet. I’m making it with my eyes open.

There was a big bounce back in the official U.S. hiring rate in March. 3.5% hiring rate is the highest in almost 2 years! Strong hiring in March in transportation, warehousing, utilities (+108,000). And solid hiring in professional/biz services (+165,000) and hospitality (+124,000). The war in Iran is likely to halt progress. But any sign of a hiring pickup is welcome news after the "hiring recession" in the past year or so.

Independent voter: The change that I was expecting from Trump, I don't feel in my everyday life. Prices are obviously still very, very, very high. Now we have higher gas prices, which really hurt everyday people. The frustration right now is just unbelievable.
