Nobody goes to Hell because they never heard of Jesus. Even though believing in Jesus is the antidote to the problem, the problem isn’t a lack of belief in Jesus. We are judged according to our deeds. Our spiritual disease is sin.

In any almost line of reasoning, it’s possible for us to be mistaken. The question is, is it likely? It’s not my way to try to argue something proves God such that the conclusion is inescapable, because all someone has to do is think of a possible way that you’re conclusion doesn’t follow, and now you’re hung out to dry. I think it’s better to argue based on what is the most reasonable, odds-on favorite. Get rid of the word ‘proof.’ How about if I give you some good reasons. If it turns out you disagree with me, you're going to have to say why those reasons aren’t good and why the alternative is more reasonable.

Greg continues his “rapid-fire” responses to common objections to Christianity, addressing claims that one is a good person, the need to see a miracle to believe in God, the illusion of consciousness, the inevitability of mistakes from human biblical authors, abortion protecting unwanted children, evidence vs. faith, and more. A day is going to come when you will stand before God and give an account for your life, and the books will be open, and everything you have ever done wrong will be laid bare for everyone to see. At that time, one of two things is going to take place: either perfect justice or perfect mercy. Here’s what I encourage you to do: bow your head, beat your breast, and say, “Lord, have mercy on me, a sinner.” And then get up, follow Jesus, and never stop.

Grace is God’s riches at Christ’s expense. It’s not earned, it’s given. It’s not deserved. What’s deserved is justice. But God extends mercy to the worst, as Paul characterizes it—he considered himself in that category. So, it’s clear that God will also extend his mercy to those who aren’t the worst. It’s there for everybody.

How do you know a group is understanding a text correctly? Read like you read anything else. Take into consideration the meaning of words in relationship to sentences or paragraphs. Take into consideration the author and his intent. Try to connect with the flow of thought and then charitably conclude what you think the author is saying.

I have no reason to think Jesus came to start an organization, but rather an organism—the body of Christ—of which he was the head, not any other human being.

Atheists reject God because evil is REAL, and then they adopt a view that says evil is an ILLUSION.

There is a basis for two-way communication with God. The question is, how does he talk to us? You want to think he talks to us subjectively so we each get our own private revelation from God. But the classical, biblical view is that God talks to us through his Word. People neglect the Word of God because they’re looking to get private revelation, which is more personal to them and more valued than Scripture.

The first step of the tactical game plan is to gather information. Don’t make statements. Ask questions.
