Jonathon Hostetler's patented design is based on adjustability. The brilliance is in the dual rotation design. The idea is to easily interchange what ground engagement devise you can use. From inter row cultivation, to sidedressing, strip till, strip.."0 spaced" seeding ... to potentially infinite plant spacing with the additional lateral adjustments. Like the old vari width ih plows my dad had on the 2+2 a guy could change the aggression like these newer vt tools like our jd 2660 can. Either have both units work the strip twice over throwing it in or out or straight to incorporate seed and fertilizer...or make it wider to facilitate something like twin row 60" corn ... or 20" strips ... or plant a cc between the rows ... or make a twin row planter module and have infinite row spacing as from static narrow rows to crowded wide strips ... like quad row 60" wheat. It was well worth the drive... and we have got quite the creative journey out ahead. Small world. Great person to work with th-fabrication.com #farmweird

Fortunately, N was applied to some local wheat fields prior to the rain...Unfortunately, the rain has totaled near five inches in the last three days...potential for good response to split applications this year

A 2006 photograph captures the Miami Hurricanes football team in a poignant moment of prayer at midfield, mourning the loss of their teammate, Bryan Pata, who was tragically shot and killed. Fifteen years after the incident, Rashaun Jones, who can be seen as No. 38 on the left in the photo, was charged with Pata's murder.

Looking forward to the upcoming Penn State Interseeding Field Day this Thursday...extension.psu.edu/cover-crop-int…... Especially interested in the potential of alternative row arrangements in high yield corn like the 30-60-30 plots..

I've been working with Adriana Murillo-Williams from Penn State to try to get a handle on the Western Bean Cutworm issue in our area. Last week, we caught over 800 moths in six traps, more than we expected. This one near Zion, PA had 290. Not finding lots of egg masses yet.

Good discussion yesterday by @carrijo_crops on short corn and her work to evaluate its potential for silage...will be great to follow the plot through the season

Due to my incredibly thoughtful staff, caring interns, and a gaggle of truly exceptional and generous colleagues and admin support I got to spend my first full week off the research farm (for non-work purposes) in 10 years. Thanks guys for helping me make some memories!

Finally, many soybean fields have larger than normal groundhog damage due to the slow growth during the drought

This corn planted green into a cover crop has many delayed emergers, perhaps three weeks after the first flush..it's ugly but should have a nearly full stand

Did a little crop scouting following the two inches of rain we got last week. Saw lots of interesting stuff...like this corn that has started tillering! Must think it's going to rain again!
