Income inequality in Canada is associated with 40,000 premature deaths every year. That's 110 Canadians dying prematurely every single day. Canada needs #UBI —because even one preventable death is one too many.

@ChloeMa46243619 @yodanschlo @CalamityJayne4 I wouldn’t take kindly to that either. It’s not what I meant to express, and I’m really sorry. I’m asking questions to things I don’t have an answer to. I believe Indigenous folks are geniuses, surviving and thriving. And should be able to live freely and fully. That’s it.
English

@ChloeMa46243619 @yodanschlo @CalamityJayne4 Also, I don’t think Indigenous peoples’ need to defend themselves or explain themselves. I think the Catholic Church, and Christian denominations have some explaining to do.
English

@ChloeMa46243619 @yodanschlo @CalamityJayne4 I totally agree. I acknowledge that I’m speaking from my own experience, and from seeing what happened in my family, and also witnessing the communities I’ve been in, and listening to folks sharing their own stories. Doesn’t mean that I speak for every person or story.
English

@ChloeMa46243619 @yodanschlo @CalamityJayne4 Same here. Not a fan of force either. I want folks to have real freedom to choose.
English

@ChloeMa46243619 @yodanschlo @CalamityJayne4 You’re right, the way I said it implies brainwashing. I should be more careful with my words and how I try to explain my thoughts.
English

@ChloeMa46243619 @yodanschlo @CalamityJayne4 I don’t think that Christian Indigenous folks are brainwashed. I think folks do whatever they can to survive. Just like my family members. I just don’t think that everyone has the same type of “free choice” to make, considering how Christianity was put on Indigenous peoples.

@Saint_Nosehair @RawBeautyKristi We didn’t lose anything. We didn’t forfeit. A lot of land is unceded and unsurrendered. Some of it is treaty land, but not necessarily unceded. Treaties are mega documents upon which the Canadian constitution exists. Legal documents, yet Canada continues to trick and steal.

@ChloeMa46243619 @yodanschlo @CalamityJayne4 They convinced whole communities that their way of life was demonic, and that they were going to hell. Those same beliefs, that Indigenous ways are bad and mustn’t be spoken about, exist to this day. Elders afraid to share knowledge, songs and stories.
English

@ChloeMa46243619 @yodanschlo @CalamityJayne4 That carried on and on, from a place of trauma and deep deep harm.
