Did VAR know that Arsenal had already won the league?
City Xtra@City_Xtra
The Premier League confirm Foden's cheeks being offside. Statement: "VAR checked the referee’s call of goal – and established that Foden was in an offside position and recommended that the goal was disallowed..."
English

Thomas Tuchel: “With Phil [Foden], it’s a little bit different [to Cole Palmer] because Phil was EXCELLENT in camp for us; he was not only excellent in training, but also off training.
He was open, he was in good spirits, and it hurt me a lot actually to call him and to tell him this decision. I could see in his reaction how much it affects him, how much it would have meant for him to come.
But I think he lost momentum in a crucial moment of the season, basically the last half of the season; we could see glimpses here and there, but not a lot of evidence.
I was not even sure in the end what position his position is. Is it a 10, is it a false nine, is it maybe more of a Bernardo Silva role in the future as a number 8? It is maybe not on the wing anymore…”

@barlowjacob Whole thing is bobbins......AND England aren't gonna win it anyway no matter who they take.

@Adisa_Alaago @Vfynn_ Neither of these are fouls you moron and the 2nd was flagged as offside 🤔

🚨🎙️| Joe Hart on West Ham’s disallowed equalizer vs Arsenal, accuses VAR of saving Arsenal’s title hopes:
🗣️“Listen, I don’t care what anyone says, that goal should’ve stood. VAR has absolutely ruined moments like that. West Ham fought for that equalizer and somehow they’ve found a way to disallow it for the softest little touch you’ll ever see. If that’s Arsenal scoring at the Emirates, nobody even checks it for more than five seconds.
And this is what frustrates fans, Arsenal have lived off those scrappy, aggressive goals all season. Blocking keepers, crowding the six-yard box, little nudges here and there… suddenly when it happens against them, it’s ‘clear and obvious.’ Give me a break.
I was a goalkeeper, I know when a keeper’s genuinely impeded and when he’s looking for help. There’s no way you can tell me that was enough contact for the goal to be overturned. The game’s gone soft. West Ham have been robbed, simple as that.
You wonder why fans think certain clubs get favourable decisions because moments like this keep happening. Arsenal are in a title race and somehow every 50/50 call seems to land their way. That equalizer changes the whole atmosphere of the game and VAR bottled it. Absolutely bottled it.”

@DaleJohnsonBBC But if he wasn't offside would he have been closer or further away from the (not excusing it) bad pass?? Either way Barry's positioning leads to Guehi's decision.....if the flag would have gone up when the pass was made by Dewsbury-Hall....
English

Marc Guehi was under no pressure by Thierno Barry, in an offside position.
Guehi had full control and made a poor pass without the offside player impacting.
This resets the offside phase and means Barry is no longer active.
Excellent decision from Michael Oliver. #EVEMCI

🚨🎙️| Ian Wright on the PFA Player of the Year race between Bruno Fernandes, Declan Rice, and Erling Haaland and who truly deserves to win it:
🗣️ “Honestly, I think people have completely lost the plot with this award, Every single year we do the same thing, reduce football to numbers on a screen and then act shocked when the wrong player wins it.
“Take Bruno Fernandes for example. I’m hearing all this noise about him potentially breaking assist records in the Premier League, and suddenly he’s everyone’s pick. Since when did racking up assists automatically mean you’re the best player in the league? Football doesn’t work like that. Half the time those numbers don’t tell you about control, about discipline, about what happens when your team doesn’t have the ball. It’s easy to look at a stat sheet, it’s harder to understand the game.”
“And then you’ve got Erling Haaland. Look, I’m not denying he’s one of the best finishers we’ve ever seen, he’s unbelievable at what he does. But let’s be honest for a second… what he does is exactly what he’s supposed to do. He’s a striker. He scores goals. That’s his job description. Are we now saying that just doing your role at an elite level while brilliant, is enough to make you the standout player in the entire league? Because if that’s the case, we might as well rename the award and save ourselves the debate.”
“What frustrates me is that the real essence of this award, players voting for the player who actually dominates them gets lost. This isn’t meant to be about who has the nicest highlight reel or the cleanest numbers. It’s about who you come off the pitch thinking, ‘I couldn’t get near him today.’”
“And that’s where Declan Rice comes in. For me, he’s the one. Not because he’s trendy, not because he’s putting up flashy numbers but because he’s doing the hardest job in football and making it look routine. He’s everywhere. Breaking up play, driving forward, dictating tempo, covering spaces others don’t even see, and then on top of that, he’s stepping up in big moments. That’s influence. That’s authority. That’s a player running games, not just appearing in them.”
“You watch him and you realise he’s not just playing well, he’s controlling matches. And that’s what top players respect. Ask any midfielder in the league who they’d least like to play against right now, and I guarantee his name comes up more than the lads putting up big stats.”
“But because he’s not scoring 25 goals or getting 20 assists, people overlook him. That’s the problem. We’ve become obsessed with output and forgotten about impact. There’s a difference. A massive difference.”
“So when I hear people saying it has to be Bruno Fernandes because of assists, or Erling Haaland because of goals, I just think, have you actually been watching the games, or are you just scrolling through stats after full-time?”
“For me, if Declan Rice doesn’t win this, then we’ve completely misunderstood what this award is about. Because the best player this season isn’t the one padding numbers, it’s the one imposing himself on every single game, the one other professionals walk off the pitch talking about.”
“And right now, whether people like it or not, that player is Declan Rice. If he gets overlooked, then the award’s lost its credibility, simple as that.”

@granTurism01 Ex Arsenal player thinks Arsenal will win the league.....well who'd have thought that. Same guy who thought we'd wasted money on De Bruyne

🚨Paul Merson gives PL verdict after Arsenal masterclass.
🗣️: “I said last week that if Arsenal can go six points clear of Man City, regardless of whether they have played a game or two more, they’ll win the league. I’m sorry but there is no way City will catch them. You may say that they have a game in hand, but Arsenal have the points on the board. I’ve been there before trust me, when they kick-off against Everton on Monday the belief won’t be there”
“It will take a lot of strength mentally for City not to drop any points in their final handful of league games. Add the fact that their schedule is pretty congested over the next few weeks, I do fear for them”
“Looking at Arsenal today, you would expect them to comfortably see off West Ham at the London Stadium next week. They might be out of sight when they welcome an already relegated Burnley side to the Emirates a week later too. I’m sorry to say but it’s Arsenal’s title to lose at the moment”

@griffo_85 Another one poaching me. Send me details see what i can do
English

@JacobsBen 'at least' 3 clubs. The only clubs that matter in this are the two who are involved in the fixture
English

At least three EPL clubs have raised opposition to proposed #MCFC fixture changes as City hope to avoid two key league games and an FA Cup Final in seven days. EPL expected to stick with their scheduling plan, also denying City two home games to finish.👕

@LeansMcBeans83 @donhutch4 As I say, didn't agree with how Don put his point across BUT a manager can't moan about decisions when big decisions have also gone in his favour
English

@griffo_85 @donhutch4 Pope wasn’t a red, Kepa wasn’t a red (although it may have helped if it was 😆) Gabriel was a silly boy, but it ain’t a fucking headbutt 🤣
English

How does a manager not know the laws of the game (ball going away from goal and a covering defender) Has M Arteta forgot about Gabriel’s head but 🟥 last week 🤷🏻♂️

🚨 “It’s a red card today, it’s a red card in Manchester… and the world is different”. 🌎 Mikel Arteta after Newcastle game. 🛑 @BeanymanSports 🎥
English

@LeansMcBeans83 @donhutch4 Mate. Long time. Don't necessarily agree completely with Don H, but your Manager can't call for Red Cards when there have been occasions that he has 'missed' against Arsenal recently...Gabriel last week, Kepa in Carabao final etc
