AI demonstrates the sunk-cost fallacy perfectly: Just one more "this doesn't work!" prompt, you think, and it'll fix it!! But often it won't, and now you've wasted 30 minutes begging that you could have spent learning how to actually fucking do it yourself.

@royalicing As an example, let's say I have an AI library. With union types I can do: generate("a string user message") generate({system: "system prompt", user: "user message"}) Without them, I'm forced to do things like generateString("a string user message")

Hot take: every programming language should support union types where the value is ambiguously typed until some kind of narrowing/type check is performed. The API ergonomics unlocked by union types are vast. It's the main reason why TypeScript is my fav language.

TIL pbcopy(1} / pbpaste(1)… copies stdin into pasteboard, or copies pasteboard into stdout. so e.g. i can copy a whole document from notes with cmd-a / cmd-c, then type “pbpaste |wc” into terminal to get word count statistics. Nice. 🙌

The Oakland Coliseum complex is double the size (155 acres) of the Tropicana Field parcel (86 acres), in a metro with much much higher properties, was already 50% owned by the team, and it's got a BART station. It's insane they couldn't work out a redevelopment project there.

There is a tragedy looking at the very deep Dropbox and Miro layoffs (18-20%): Both companies are *profitable*. Dropbox generates a very healthy profit ($450M profit / net income on $2.5B of revenues). A reminder of one downside of taking VC-funding or going public!
