projectpromeon.es @ProjectPromeon has two missions: to measure environmental parameters during descent and transmit them in real time to the ground & and to create a thermal map of the terrain using an infrared sensor to detect temperature variations and possible fires.
The team is utilizing a FLIR Lepton 3.1R sensor, and will integrate a PureThermal Mini USB interface board. Project Promeon is a CanSat® initiative of the @esa that invites students from across Europe to design, build, and launch a mini-satellite the size of a soda can.
The main motivation behind Project Promeon is to explore the scientific value of thermal terrain observation from a small airborne platform. Through this project, it will collect and analyze data that helps better understand how heat is distributed across the Earth’s surface and how it changes during the CanSat’s descent.
