@ColinSolomon63 This post was about Carrefour items being more expensive here, not accounting for FX or the extra freight. Not the Aldi Lidl thing. I have seen a number of very small Aldi Lidl shops in the UK As for Scotland, their gov discount is both air & sea for residents on certain routes.

@grumpyjsymum Nor can you realistically compare things with Orkney where the Scottish government underwrite the freight to the islands. Hoping that either retailer would operate a multiple small outlet model in an island of 45 mi.² might just be too simplistic too.

I see some daft things on local soc media but comparing cost of food in France excluding freight and foreign exchange costs and associated +\-risk, with it here in £’s. It really isn’t that simple.

Out early to avoid the worst of the heat. Voted in the early polling at StPauls it was very busy even though I was there as it opened, then did my shopping the supermarket was wonderfully cool. Home, shopping away and then a quick rest on the bed and I'm ready for action again!!

@AndreaLeSaint2 If only these islands could work together! DFDS did try, they asked to run some more trips, Guernsey said No. Loganair tried, Guernsey said No. The people losing out are islanders. The only option that’s doing more is the Guernsey Island Unlimited but it doesn’t take cars.

States Assembly wonder why we don’t vote, from what I see of the playground squabbling, time would be better spent speaking to voters! It is they who decide. I find it depressing. As for those that do not answer emails? It is clear what message you are giving. Please, do better!
