Is it just me, or has customer service declined remarkably in the last few years?

The people who did this to your mortgage rates were all just given taxpayer funded jobs for life, courtesy of the Tories and the corrupt honours system...

@virginmedia shocking service. Customer for many years here. 1: Bill randomly put up mid-contract. 2: Only new customers get decent deals. Obviously, my loyalty is worth nothing, so it's goodbye! #badservice #virginfail

@virginmedia If only I was a new customer, I'd be able to get one of those offers! I'm just a lowly, annoying customer who's been with you for over 10 years. Why would you bother looking after me.

James Hollis on Jung’s concept of #projection: "There are typically five stages of a projection. First, our psyche is triggered and some energy leaves us, goes out into the world, falls on a particular person, a career, an institution, or our children—something that’s capable of holding, at least for a while, that projection. We start responding to that other as if it’s the reality, not understanding that we’re in some way encountering disowned aspects of ourselves. Second, because the other is ‘other,’ there’s invariably a kind of discrepancy that we begin to recognize. It’s almost as if we put on the wrong pair of glasses. The world is somehow blurry instead of clear. So we may think of the other, What’s wrong with you? You’ve changed. You’re not the person I thought you were. You’re different. Or, Why is it that this wonderful career or expectation that I have is not working in the way in which I wanted it to? That’s the experience of cognitive #dissonance. Because it’s still #unconscious, we still assume the problem is out there, and that can lead to the problem of power. In this third stage, people frequently fall into controlling behaviors or passive-aggressive behaviors in their intimate relationships, or they start tinkering with this or that in the outer world, thinking, If I can just find the right combination of this or that, it’ll all still work out. Unwittingly, the power #complex is trying to ratify and reinforce the expectation, the hidden agenda of the projection in the first place. The fourth stage is when the projection wears away because the otherness of the other wears through it and collapses the energy that’s involved. That collapse can lead to confusion or dismay or anger. Often people will wind up blaming each other. ‘I was counting on you for this or that. You really let me down.’ Or, ‘You failed,’ or something like that. We’ve all had that experience of burnout where we invest in a #relationship or invest in a #career or invest in some project or even a #hobby and suddenly it no longer has any feedback. It has no reciprocity to it. You realize the projection has failed, but you may not know that existed as a projection at all. You may still be swimming in that #unconscious mechanism and thus you’re likely to just renew that projection on another person, in another situation, in another hobby, in another distraction, or whatever. Even serial failures or disappointments may fail to produce insight that says, All of this is about what is unaddressed in you, not in the other you now judge. The fifth stage, if it’s going to happen at all, is where you have to own this hidden agenda: Oh, that energy has come back to me. What am I going to do? How am I responsible for that now? What did I put out on you? Or what did I put out on that other that has now come back to me and I’m accountable for it? To give you an obvious example, think of the famous empty-nest syndrome. Even though I knew it was coming, when my daughter, having completed graduate school, drove through town en route to her own career in a distant city, knowing that my heart drove away with her, I still experienced a reactive #depression. So I had to play that little trick that therapists can sometimes play on themselves, and it helps, so I pass it on to you. You can ask yourself, What would I say to someone else who brought this problem to me?" ~James Hollis, Ph.D., Jungian analyst, A Life of Meaning: Relocating Your Center of Spiritual Gravity, pp. 32-33 Coming to Speaking of Jung on Nov. 20, 2023 🔹Get the book: (Affiliate Link) amzn.to/42YjatA 🔹Subscribe to our YouTube channel: youtube.com/jungianlaura

When I had recovered from my divorce, I commissioned a calligrapher to write this out. Framed it and put it up by the front door and now I do. I greet myself with elation and feast on my life.

Private English water utilities have paid £72bn to shareholders, at the same time they’ve built up a debt mountain of £53bn. Now they have a Tory green light to increase your bills to pay for investment. It’s a scam. Nationalise water

Since 2007, private health insurance companies spent $141 billion on stock buybacks. During that same time, the cost of the average family health insurance plan skyrocketed by 86% to $22,463 a year while average premiums soared by over $4,300. Yes. We need #MedicareForAll.

Well literally no one turned up for my poetry reading! Someone from the toddler group in the next room did come in and give me a biscuit though, so perhaps all is not lost.

Last night I bought a round of drinks in a pub that cost £45. I nearly fainted! A cheese sarnie has gone up by 40% in last year. What's the price hike that made your eyes bulge? And why is cost of living so much higher here in UK than our European neighbours?@TimesRadio
