The Avatar Aang movie dropped some gems about what may happen in Seven Havens. The crystals in the spiritual world show up in the trailer and the incursion of avatar Sonams temple shows what may happen when both world collide which may be the cataclysmic event Korra has to stop.

Korra was a locked away Avatar with no access to the outside world until she was literally a teenager. When she reached the outside world she had to grapple with the fact that it “supposedly” did not need her and everything she was taught was outdated. Her villains were BRUTAL. She literally fought the spirit of evil itself. She was preyed upon numerous times even by her own family. Lost her bending, lost her past lives unintentionally, survived a poisoning and paralysis, overcame PTSD, and is a representation of what it means to practice personal forgiveness & empathy for your mistakes. Also Bisexual diva. Whats not to defend?

@Uber_Kryptonian It seems they stated that it was due to StudioMir working on the Movie. I’ve seen (Dragon Striker) this studios most recent work and it was a nice watch (does it fits ATLA/LOK to me?.. no)but I’m tuned in cuz I love anything Bryke I’ll be SAT but they gotta call Mir back 😆

Here's what I think happened
Paramount didn't give them as big of a budget as previous series. They probably assumed it would be more difficult to get new seasons as well. So, they changed the art/animation style for something cheaper in order to be able to pump out 26 episodes

Guys, the animation took a nose dive for Seven Havens. If you think this looks acceptable i don't know what to tell you. Korra for all it's flaws (many) was a FAR MORE ambitious looking production than this. This looks like something Netflix would dump on their platform.
