war crimes and terrorism against west asia has been so normalized for a long time. this level of mass murder is incomprehensible but the world sees it as “just how things in that region are”. thinking about how many generations in our region have been terrorized and trapped in this endless cycle of death and pain just crushes my heart. i dream of a day where west asian people are no longer described as heroic, resilient, strong, etc. but that we can be known as happy, funny, creative, free, affable, easygoing. that we can just be.
