In Germany, teaching the Holocaust is mandatory. It includes visits to concentration camp, museums, etc. They don’t shy away from their own ugly history. Yet the kids aren’t damaged; they’re strengthened, matured, humbled. US needs to do same re slavery. Not that complicated.

@SiggyRose1 That is an excellent point! Unfortunately, it seems that so many parents of young children are themselves so poorly educated and concerned with “America First,” That I’m not sure they know Any History. Like we fought Germany in WW2. Do they know the South lost the Civil War?

@SiggyRose1 We do. I recall, in the third grade a white child reading aloud from a text book about the horrors of slavery, such as beatings for capricious infractions (e.g. a slave brushing an owner's hair too aggressively). We've owned that shit and apologized. WTF do you want white lady?
