Reform’s candidate for council leader at Kirklees Council admitted she didn’t know what the constitution, standing orders or an amendment were. Councils have legal duties over adult social care, SEND provision and housing support. This is who Reform put in charge.

The EU is moving to prioritize European satellite operators over Starlink, as the European Commission prepares a decision this week designed to reduce the bloc’s dependence on U.S. infrastructure. Starlink currently controls roughly two-thirds of all active satellites in orbit. Bouygues CEO Olivier Roussat, speaking to CNBC, called Europe’s reliance on American infrastructure “dangerous” a warning Brussels appears to have finally taken seriously. SpaceX has already pushed back, urging the FCC to prepare retaliatory “reciprocal restrictions” against European satellite firms, raising the prospect of a transatlantic trade clash in orbit.

@gwcollinge @ConsEurope @KemiBadenoch @dominicgrieve_ The only reason for trade is comparative advantage. This is why neighbouring villages hardly trade, but both trade with towns. Distance is important, but not the only factor. BTW The U.K., the world’s 5th economy, is hardly a “small island”. How do other CPTPP nations “survive”?

🚨NEW REPORT🚨 Senior Conservatives urge @KemiBadenoch to reconsider plans to leave the ECHR. In a major new CEF report, former Attorney General @dominicgrieve_ argues that withdrawal would not stop illegal migration - and would inflict serious damage on the Union, our security co-operation, and our standing in Europe. The report sets out reform proposals for the UK to lead Europe's response to illegal migration after the recent key migration summit in Chișinău. ft.com/content/b3e4d0…

Another example of how Brexit broke our borders. According to Brexiteers the problem is we did not Brexit hard enough and we should now leave the ECHR to finish the job. Meanwhile, in reality, that would only make things worse - just like Brexit. ft.com/content/b3e4d0…

@nulasuchet @MarkJames187611 That is WHY JACOB REECE MOGG WAS DESPERATE TO GET Britain out of the EU, after a directive came in, saying that all money held off shore was liable for tax.Brexit was just that, SO RICH PEOPLE COULD BECOME MUCH RICHER.

When I was a partner in a law firm, I had to ‘sign off’ accounts. That involved reading the accounts in draft & then a partners’ meeting with the accountants at which we would raise questions about particular items. It was not a question of having the accounts shoved under our noses with an instruction to ‘sign here’. I wonder whether it was the same with the SNP’s accounts? ‘Motor vehicles £100,000’ - what’s this? ‘A camper van’ ‘Oh? What’s that for? Who bought it & where is it?’ Even my London chess club scrutinised its accounts minutely at the AGM each year, with the totals for income & expenditure each under £1,000. In my experience, accounts aren’t just signed off.

Ukrainian defenders are making significant tactical gains in Zaporizhzhya region against the russian fascist invaders. This is the result of months of professional soldiering by the AFU and of Ukrainian drones turning the resupply route for the rashists into a Highway of Death.

For the record I believe it is completely obvious we would get a good deal rejoining the EU. The only area we would likely suffer a minor loss on compared to our prior deal would be the rebate. But that’s a small beer sunk cost compared to the clear economic gains of membership.

@AnthonyGlees I don't think the Tories know what to do. Conservatives were never a Brexit party. Entryism was used by the far-right to promote Brexit within a main stream political party and that has brought about it's destruction. Farage has been successful in his desired aim.

What a vile thing to say. Grieve has a perfect right to call himself a Conservative. You don’t have to believe in Brexit to be a Conservative. Brexit runs entirely counter to traditional Tory beliefs in competition, the benefits of the market & trade & leading in Europe.
Simon Clarke@SirSimonClarke

Dominic Grieve long since lost the right to be considered a Conservative (or, arguably, a centrist).

You know, when we started this drone factory, we were just two idiots trying to help Ukraine hit a million FPVs a year. Next thing you know, we’re out here accidentally becoming the Oppenheimer of kamikaze drones. Ours are now FULLY unjammable, as in, the russians can jam all they want, our babies just laugh and keep flying like they run on renewables. We’re about to delete A LOT of russian logistics. Like, ‘sorry bro, your supply truck just got yeeted into the next dimension’ levels of deleted.
