Maybe I am just a negative - but all of this feels self-centered. We focus on nuance and articulation at the expense of driving home clean tech over dirty tech.

@sheldonth @countluku Could you actually explain what you are talking about? There are industries across the world that use industrial heat for their processes and that use grey hydrogen as an industrial feedstock. You are saying these people should not decarbonize their operations because why?

@countluku @h2globe what you're arguing for doesn't make thermodynamic sense. that's ok as long as we remain in a fossil energy surplus - but if our aim is to build the type of resilient systems we desperately need then it's important to come to reality with the human relationship to energy

@sheldonth @countluku I don't think the question of should we do this or that with renewables is a relevant question because renewables are purchased by tons of people independently. Unless you are proposing a global cartel to restrict the use of solar panels for things deemed acceptable

@sheldonth @countluku I think industry who uses natural gas should build renewables and green hydrogen production to replace their current use of grey hydrogen and natural gas for heating. I think they will use solar and wind and geothermal to do that.

Fuel cell people don’t hate batteries (fuel cells have batteries). Battery people hate fuel cells, because FCs threaten their little pet vision for how a decarbonized society should look. Ironically, green hydrogen is what will get us there, especially tough parts.
