Charlie Kirk's assassination must awaken the world. Please take 2 minutes to read this: I had a procedure on my back today. Drugged out of my mind. They let me use my phone. Advising against social media. So while my mind is anaesthetized beyond belief, I learn Charlie was shot. This was...sobering. I signed an "Against Medical Advice" form so I was allowed to leave alone. It's minutes before we learn of his death. I exit the building. I notice a woman in a hijab, looking back at someone in rage. Seething. Thinking. Assessing. She's locked on a woman in a T-shirt that says "Shalom Bitches" — with a Magen David on it. The alarm sounds in my head. Take note, I still have drugs in my system. I'm in pain. And Charlie Kirk was just shot. I do not want to cause a scene. I'm vulnerable. I just need to get home. Safely. But. I also wanted the woman in the Magen David tee to get home safely. ME: "What are you looking at?" RAGE-FACE: "Free Palestine." She comes towards me. I do not back down. ME: "What." My 5-foot aching body stood 7-feet strong. RAGE-FACE: "FREE PALESTINE!" I motion for her to leave. RAGE-FACE: "Fuсk you. FREE PALESTINE!" I keep motioning for her to leave. (The Israeli way. If you know, you know.) ME: "Am Yisrael Chai." She leaves. Screaming her last two brain cells out. I see the woman in the tee walk into Starbucks with her friend. I yell for their attention — in Hebrew. "Dahlia???" "You're Dahlia!" I told them what happened. To be more aware. I didn't know what Rage-Face wanted to do to them. But I wasn't going to be someone who just stood by and let something happen. The two women thanked me and offered to help me home. I declined. But they took my number and called to make sure I made it home safely. The murdеr of Charlie Kirk — someone who spoke his truth from his heart — is meant to scare you out of speaking up. But it lit me up. His fire will never die. I carry his torch. You should too. Thank you, Charlie.❤️
