@RubenMoor @Jakeronthia_ @AlludioGames I do think it depends on the game - for me I’ve never seen an MMO that was successful in terms of longevity that didn’t have a subscription.

@hack1ge @Jakeronthia_ @AlludioGames to me, battlepass mechanisms are like paid loot boxes: an immediate reason to quit and uninstall the game. But from a dev point of view it's no use, better understand how consumers function.

People like to believe that they are playing "for free" and then upgrade to some paid subscription because they spend so much time in-game, already, and feel that they would miss out on stuff

Yeah makes sense - it’s one of the reasons I chose to build on the Otherside ODK. Their onboarding and crypto rails are basically completely obscured from the player. I know WoW does like unlimited play until level 20 then you can’t level any more for free. The interesting thing with web3 games is in theory if you play you could earn back your monthly sub costs so it might entice more people to play.

@hack1ge @AlludioGames Main problem you need to scale on web2 to have a prosper plan for a game, launch only on web3 is a suicide from the start for a game

Maybe a hot take. I’ve been looking through mutants to potentially grab a forever mutant and I have a really hard time falling in love with many of them. Some of the mouth traits are rough for what I’m looking for. Still love mutants but it’s a tough scroll. Oh well. Stay Bored.
