@playdostheory idk your dynamic obv and the exact circumstances but hopefully once u establish yourself as a safe space where they dont feel the need to talk or to like do ANYTHING, theyll be more comfortable talking. at least thats what would've helped when i was 11 and in that kinda headspace

@playdostheory honestly the best thing u can do at this point is just be there, like even if you're not doing anything just invite them to exist in ur room. it can go a long way to show that somebody just like enjoys their presence and that they have somewhere to go when things get too much

Hey, this is genuinely serious. I know it’s a shoddy photo and it’s hard to see anything, but my 11 yo sibling wrote this im guessing recently bc I this is from a page of the journal I bought them. Can anyone make out anything? Even js key details ? I’m worried something happened

@playdostheory this is all i could find that hasn't been said yet. not entirely sure abt the top bit and it looked like they scribbled out the pronoun extra hard on the very insecure part

@DspriteLovemail @Inneffa @Refuted786 @CasGPT @sashairing im not going to spend years of my life learning a language to win a twitter argument, thats why i read translations written by native speakers who DO have that understanding, and scholars who spent decades studying the original text. if yu wont accept their words, whose will you?

@haematicz @Inneffa @Refuted786 @CasGPT @sashairing I’m not telling you to learn Arabic and write an “accurate translation”. I’m telling you that if you were fluent in Arabic, you’d be able to read and understand the original text in a way a non speaker wouldn’t.

@Refuted786 @DspriteLovemail @Inneffa @CasGPT @sashairing it by definition reduces women to property, as the hijab was meant to differentiate wives from slave women. if you genuinely dont see how dehumanising it is to force girls to cover 90% of themselves from childhood as to not 'tempt' men, idk what critical thought u ARE capable of

@haematicz @Inneffa @Refuted786 @CasGPT @sashairing I’m just saying that direct translations Do Not Exist and no translation can ever be considered “perfect” or 100% “accurate”. Also, I never even said I was muslim, or even religious. If you wanna criticize this part of the book so bad, then you should consider learning Arabic.

@DspriteLovemail @Inneffa @Refuted786 @CasGPT @sashairing then what translation do you follow ? if you reject every source that contradicts you, then no valid source will remain. genuinely how do you think english speaking people should engage with the text if EVERY translation is inaccurate to you ? just vibes ??

@DspriteLovemail @Inneffa @Refuted786 @CasGPT @sashairing surah al ahzab ayat 59 "tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to bring down over themselves [part] of their outer garments. That is more suitable that they will be known and not be abused", literally straight from the quran.

@tashalveh @DspriteLovemail @sashairing thats how consequences work, they deter people from doing things that may be detrimental to themselves and others. very few things in this world are chosen 100% freely, and a mandatory garment left over from when it was used to identify slaves is certainly not one of them.

@haematicz @DspriteLovemail @sashairing By that logic, no one who believes in any consequence (legal, social, financial etc,..) can freely choose anything. You've just defined free will out of existence. Try again.

@DspriteLovemail @sashairing if you genuinely beleive you will be harmed for not doing something (i.e. tortured forever), then you, by definition, cannot freely choose it.

@SailorMoon20689 @sashairing Hijab as a concept is misogynistic, girls of 10-12 are supposed to wear it to not be « tempting » just bc they have their period and Islam itself don’t allow sexual slaves to wear it to know who they can freely rape (bc yes slavery is very much allowed in Islam lol)

@Dr4con1a @LunarVoltage ALL Muslims no matter the age, status, or gender must have an education and Access to more education. Education on the religion and education in English. But sexist men ruin everything for everybody

It’s not abt characters having hajab, but THIS specific character who is meant to represent freedom of art and life and fighting against oppression who’s IRANIAN wearing a hijab aka a clothing that is forced on Iranians or they die irl is so fucking annoying

@LunarVoltage @Dr4con1a the hijab also served to differentiate wives and 'free' women who could only be raped by their husbands from slave women who were fair game, why should anybody be forced to wear a sexual marker of 'availability', let alone a child ?

@LunarVoltage @Dr4con1a puberty starts well before the age of consent, and claiming a child's hair is so sexual it must be physically obscured not only sexualises them by default, but supposes that it is possible for a child to 'tempt' grown men, which is pedophilic.
