I've been married 18 years. Here’s the advice I’d give myself if I hopped in a time machine to the night before the wedding. 1. When money gets tight. Don't cut out the gym membership It's an investment in your future. 2. It's ok to have fun. I'm funny, but being fun is something I'm working on. I grew up "if we had fun yesterday we're not doing anything today." 3. Don't let your ideal stop you from doing what you can do. It'd be awesome to invest $100k. You have $10. Use that. 4. God will use your wife to talk to you. Listen to what she's saying. (This should've been number 1 honestly.) 5. Most of the things you got mad about, you won’t remember the reason you got mad. So don’t make mountains out of molehills. 6. When it comes to jobs. Chase skills not money. 7. Work, reading, being with her, movies, sportsball, and church aren't hobbies. Get a hobby. 8. She’s not supposed to think, act, and feel like you. And don’t try and make her. 9. If there’s a disagreement You start the reconciliation process. Why? Because who asked who out? Who asked who to marry who? (Male feminists are excused from this one) 10. Go to bed at a reasonable hour and get up early. Because you're not busy, wait until you have kids. 11. When the babies come. Don't rush through it. The days are long and the years are short. 12. She knows when you’re upset so stop saying you're not when you are. 13. She’s on your side. She wants you to win. She’s not your opponent. 14. Take more walks with her. 15. Don't let her overwork herself. 16. Pay for her to get her nails and hair done. She wants to feel beautiful for you. 17. Most of the time forgiveness is a process, not an event 18. She's the one you prayed for. Don't forget it.
