That’s jumping to a conclusion. I’m not a racist. I believe most people are good and deserve to be safe from evil people like this. The crime was horrific and we shouldn’t forget it. @haleyrae95 @mojojothadon @ABC Its important to not this young man was arrested on felony assault charges in 2019, found to be mentally incompetent to stand trial, and was hospitalized at a state facility but then released in 2022 to a community treatment facility when he was deemed to no longer be a threat.

Of all the responses I’ve received today, I want to thank you for showing respect and bringing up points that can actually help solve the problem. ❤️ I can understand that mental health is something we should get to the root of before people get to this point, but at this point of multiple offenses, these people shouldn’t be on the street. Prisons are meant to house people who are a threat to others. These judges releasing these people aren’t protecting us.

The better question is how many arrests does it take before state legislatures and governors have the decency to expand community services and treatment for the severely mentally ill. Prison doesn’t treat schizophrenia and it doesn’t make us safer.
