Red Hat Middleware is moving under IBM. Feels like a big change, yet for most of us, it’s business as usual. The tech, the people, and the mission remain. Let’s see what the future holds. buff.ly/40PAMIZ

why do laptops that are low battery refuse to turn on when the power is plugged, but will turn on if you yank the cord long enough for Dell (or whatever) to show?

I've thought about it and decided it was the egg, that came before the chicken not the other way around. Apparently all birds are direct descendants of theropods (dinosaurs), and they laid eggs. the animals in the eggs evolved to birds slowly by germ line mutations.

public service announcement: always map compose to right ctrl, not right alt. this way alt-. works in bash to add last argument of previous command to edit buffer. Credit to @hoegsberg for teaching me this trick eleventy billion years ago.

thought running through my head today: Is this guy for real? Or is he just trying to get fired so he can leave with a severance package?

there's this ad i kept seeing for a scrolling game where you fight monsters and one day installed it on a whim. turns out the scrolling game is just minigame in this massive online rpg and you can only play it intermittently after spending hours building your simcity monarchy.

i have this cool keyboard that's small, but still feels spacious when typing... The entire surface is also a touchpad. it's great but it's too flat, so i glued a glue on it to give it an angle (also some foam scraps, so the keyboard doesnt slide)

I’m thrilled to announce that Neural Magic has signed a definitive agreement to join forces with Red Hat, Inc. At Neural Magic our vision is that the future of AI is open, and we have been on a mission to enable enterprises to capture the powerful innovation from AI, while at the same time being free of friction and restriction. Open-source models, optimization algorithms, and inferencing systems are the heart of this - enabling enterprises to own their own AI models, privately customize them to their datasets, and deploy them on their private multi-vendor infrastructure - whether cloud, datacenter, or edge. For the last 5 years, we have been contributing open research, open-source model quantization and sparsification tools, and open-source pre-optimized models to the community. As part of our increasing shift to support GPUs, we have been recognized as the top commercial contributor to the amazing vLLM project. There is a saying in the startup world that an acquisition is an exit. This is not. It is an entrance. A beginning to create an open source world for AI, where an open ecosystem flourishes, and customers and the community are the benefactors. Red Hat shares this vision, and together we will advance the world of truly “open” AI. It’s a great day for open source AI. Read the Press Release: redhat.com/en/about/press…

Exciting news! @NeuralMagic’s technology is democratizing access to AI, just as InstructLab does for how we train and tune models. Shared origin stories, beliefs, and approaches underpin Red Hat's definitive agreement to acquire Neural Magic: red.ht/3UIL2AM
