@moving_charlie @MerrynSW Agreed. A different step might be to create a “Downsizer’s ISA”, allowing downsizers to ringfence their gain from tax in the future. Why sell something where any gain is tax-free (and which gives you an extra IHT allowance) if wherever you put the money next is taxable?

@MerrynSW Ending stamp duty would release a raft of downsizing.

It really doesn't. It might mean building houses to match the population increase. Or building the kind of community homes people want to grow old in. But it doesn't mean piling more punitive taxes on more people. Just stop.

@HillF1 How does the Race Director get to decide which cars are racing and which aren’t? Surely the point of the rule that the SC goes in at the end of the following lap is to allow all lapped cars through - and around - so that the field is in order and close up before it restarts?

Does anyone fancy changing jobs? F1 Race Director? I'd think about it at least twice. And then a couple more times. Masi has a massively difficult task. Not made easier by communications now being broadcast live globally. Maybe this needs a re-think? #f1

Why the race started before all the lapped cars had unlapped themselves: 'The Race Director also stated that it had long been agreed by all the Teams that where possible it was highly desirable for the race to end in a “green” condition (i.e. not under a Safety Car).' #f1
