Death of the author is all well and good but it’s concerning that people have apparently decided that authorial intent doesn’t matter At All. You can and should have your own interpretations but it is vital to literacy to understand and engage with the author’s intent in a story.

@JoeShmo22476157 i think i've said "i'm really angry with you and it will take me a long time to forgive you" to loved ones i'm mad at. its not like no one every says their emotions. I think its Complicated and going 200% in either direction is bad. NUANCE

@hamsterina The Issue with "telling" is more about saying things that wouldnt naturally be said. If a character says "I'm really angry with you and it will take me a long time to forgive you" thats bad "Telling." A character explaining something is not necessarily bad "telling."

@hamsterina its one of my main issues w undertale. its super vague on alot of floweys, asgores, and toriels story and it feels like its gonna tell u in some meaningful way but you just get loredumped in a really unsatisfying dumb manner
