کیا قائداعظم محمد علی جناح شیعہ تھے؟ قائداعظم محمد علی جناح اپنے آخری ایام میں سُنی ہو گئے تھے لیکن تنازع سے بچنے کے لیے انہوں نے اس کا باقاعدہ اعلان نہیں کیا۔ ان کے ذاتی سیکریٹری زیڈ اے سلہری کی تحریروں میں متعدد اس بات کا ذکر ہے، اور ان کے آخری دنوں کے مذہبی رفقاء بھی دو سُنی عُلماء مولانا شبیر احمد عثمانی اور علامہ سید سلیمان ندوی تھے۔ زیڈ اے سلہری نے اپنی تحاریر کئی مرتبہ اس بات کا ذکر کیا کہ قائداعظم جب بھی مسجد میں نماز ادا کرنا چاہتے تو سُنی مساجد میں ہی جاتے۔ مولانا شبیر احمد عثمانی نے ان کی نمازِ جنازہ بھی خالص سنی طریقے کے مطابق پڑھائی۔ اسی طرح، آزادی کے بعد ایک شیعہ وفد نے انہیں مجلسِ عاشورا میں شرکت کی دعوت دی، مگر قائداعظم نے یہ کہتے ہوئے انکار کر دیا: “میں نہیں سمجھتا کہ کسی تاریخی واقعے کو مسلمانوں میں تفرقہ ڈالنے کے لیے استعمال کیا جانا چاہیے۔” ان کی آخری 20–25 سالہ زندگی میں سنی ہونے کا ذکر ان کی متعدد سوانحِ حیات میں بھی ملتا ہے۔
