Regarding the Orthodox women who was bullied into shutting down her account after writing an article mildly criticism dating in Orthodox churches. It's weirder than most think, and creepier.
It's not about hers or their hypocrisy. It's about psychological incest.
I have observed that modern men have a dysfunctional orientation to women. They don't want to contend with a woman. What they want is a mommy they can have sex with.
If you spoil someone, they tend to be resentful rather than grateful. Most young men today are spoiled, usually by their mothers who do everything for them and tolerate disrespect. The mother becomes a slave to the child. This is necessary when the child is a baby but should cease by the time the child is mobile, so under two years or age. A mother is a slave to a baby but shouldn't be beyond that.
However, society has both extended this in a number of ways, such as punishing women who let 8 year old kids stay at home alone for more than 5 minutes, or structuring the entire society to cater to kids (doing everything to get them into college and so on) rather than molding the kids to be useful to society.
This makes people self-centered. They imagine themselves the most important thing in the world because that's how they were raised. Everything and everyone was oriented to serve them, while they served nothing.
As a result, they go into adulthood (men and women both) trying to replicate this. In this case, it manifests psycho-sexually in the desire for a sex slave. It's a mommy-proxy.
The thing is... slaves don't talk back. More so, the mommy-proxy makes them psychologically vulnerable to criticism as it's coming from someone who's supposed to be unconditionally supportive. By the time men are adults, they're completely deformed by this, unable to tolerate any criticism at all... from women.
I've used to term "spiritually Islamic" because Islam isn't really a religion so much as primitive male pathologies wrapped in a veneer of religion.
So what we end up with is a bunch of men who are incapable of tolerating criticism, judgement, or expectations from women because they view all women as proxies for their mom.
Those men will go looking for anything that gives their deformed psychology cover, and religion is a classic go-to for that. These guys favor Orthodoxy not because of theology but because they believe it grants them more of what they want: unquestioned power over women in the aggregate.
