Chud FaceTimed me today at 1:01 EST. We are friends. He explained to me how he has received constant threats and is (obviously) in perpetual fear for his life and safety. How he constantly has to have his head on a swivel all because he is exercising his first amendment right. Dalton is very pious and a believer in Christ. He’s not racist. Yesterday was one of the most devastating days of my life. My adoptive family disowned me when I transitioned twenty years ago. This year, I made a fresh effort to reach out and see if there was room for us to mend these wounds. I got word through a family friend that they have no interest whatsoever in ever speaking again. They feel that I made a decision in transitioning, and that is the end of our relationship. I cannot begin to explain how much it hurts to be adopted by family and then thrown away like a piece of garbage, just because I am trans.
