I've just learned that my partner, a nonlawyer who for some reason has listened to SCOTUS arguments since high school, has been emailing the Oyez help line b/c not all arguments are up from November and December. I find this so charming in the nerdiest of ways.

My partner's work trip aligns perfectly with the phase in argument prep when I start talking to myself while pacing around the house. Great luck because I sound a little bananas.

Told myself I couldn’t leave the office until I resolved all my open tabs but… I’ve got a lot of tabs to resolve.

Based on my Teams messages to colleagues, I'm cutting at a rate of 84 words per hour. Just 16 words to go!

@hannnahmmarie They also use quotation marks every time they make one of these baseball puns to really make them "pop" and I cringe every time.

Despite proudly proclaiming just a few days ago that I had thousands of words to spare, I now am at the phase of brief writing in which I must cut 1,500 words, all of which are precious to me and necessary.

The word limit was a problem from the start in a brief I wrote last month. It's so liberating to be turning to Part II of III in a brief this month and still have (checks count) 7,102 words left.
