@nfarina I’d be also a bit worried about claude code seeing and sending off those 100 items(?)

Testing the Apple Password waters by importing ~100 items from 1Password. I had to get Claude Code's help in massaging the ".1pux" into a CSV Apple would accept. The import went fine on my Mac, but here we are hours later and they just…don't exist on my iPhone. Not great!

@manuelmaly f*blocksyntax is looking increasingly harmless compared to this. In contrast to the definitions at least the call sites usually become very readable (but not always easily writable)

@zats @steipete @peekabooagent Give it a minimum improvement to achieve (eg 20% performance gain) otherwise it might do lots of crazy stuff and proudly present a 0.8% significant gain at the price of complicated code

@zats @steipete @peekabooagent Not instruments but what I tried is let it create a separate performance-test module in the package that can run xctest performance tests (measure) in release build, tell it what to test and make some attempts at optimizing and document wht was tried and with what result

has anyone managed to create a successfull agentic loop with apple's profiling tools to automatically detect performance bottlenecks? @steipete have you tried something with @peekabooagent maybe?

In one evening during vacation, I vibe coded an app. It lets you quickly expand links & extract text or images. Useful for getting map previews or text of tweets. There might be an app/shortcut for that, but I don't care. Creating this was so much fun.

@nfarina They may have adjusted some limits as yesterday there were a lot of server overload errors

Add a parameter to a method in Swift? It‘s somewhat funny how Xcode never reached Real_IDE_status™️ with regards to refactoring Swift code and all of the sudden we can do it easily… wait long enough and it will be solved on other ways.

@manuelmaly Agree it looks like it shiuld be inferrable, perhaps something to bring up in the swift forums? Is it limited to the immediate initialization, of the same when you return the closure from a static maker function?

@hannesoid Maybe you can help with this: For some reason I always need to redeclare `throws(XY)` in the inner closure sig, even though it should be inferable from the declaration AND the thrown error:

Typed throws have been such a great addition to Swift. Instead of rethrows, we can use: func x<E: Error>(_ transform: () throws(E) -> Void) throws(E) { try transform() } No error -> E == Never, and the compiler knows to infer no `try` is needed

@manuelmaly I consider it sometimes but then I don’t have any data on the benefits and feel like if on a larger scale, it should be done automatically

Anybody tried adding explicit types to all their Swift codebase, to speed up compilation?

Advent of code is a thing. Since this year assignments aren't hard (yet) I spent some time on creating some visualizations. It's the first baby steps into SceneKit. youtu.be/u7Of0Mssqu8
